Welcome to Alpers Dental

A calm, one-stop dental practice in the heart of Epsom

Alpers has been on Manukau Road since 2000. Dr Nic and Jacqui took over in 2005 and never left, because they love Epsom and it simply works for patients.

About half our patients are families whose kids go to schools like Epsom Normal Primary. The rest drive in from further out, usually because they've been somewhere that rushed them or talked over their heads. We try hard not to do either. You'll get told what's going on, what it costs, and what we'd do if it were our mouth. There's parking too, which around here is no small thing.

Are you looking for an appointment? We're accepting new patients here in Epsom. Check out our $299 new patient offer! (Includes a Check-Up, X-Rays & Dental Hygienist Clean)

What we do

Dental Services in Epsom, All in One Place

01

Emergency Dentist in Epsom

Dental pain has terrible timing. It's the tooth that cracks on a Saturday, or the ache that's ruined your week by Wednesday. When that's you, a booking in two weeks is no use at all, so we keep slots open every day for people who need seeing now.

A lot of these are sports knocks. Rugby and netball around the Epsom fields and Cornwall Park go through spells where we're seeing a chipped front tooth most weeks. The rest are usually Newmarket office workers who can't take a day off to sit with a sore molar.

Call 09 524 5056 and we'll fit you in as fast as we can. First job is getting you out of pain. After that we'll work out what actually happened and what to do about it.

General Dentistry in Epsom

Most of what we do is the ordinary stuff: a check-up that's slipped, teeth that could use a look. If it's been two or three years, honestly, join the club. You won't get a lecture from anyone here.

Sitting at the Newmarket end of Manukau Road, we're easy to fit into a lunch break or the drive home. And because you tend to get the same dentist each time, with your history in front of them, the little problems get caught while they're still little and cheap.

Check-ups, fillings, gum care, bad breath, mouthguards for the winter season. Whatever turns up, we'll walk you through it before anything gets done.

03

Cosmetic Dentistry in Epsom

It's usually a photo that does it. You catch your smile and wish it sat a bit differently. If your teeth are making you hold back, that's reason enough to come in and talk.

We start with honest advice. Plenty of the time a proper whitening is all a smile needs, and we'll say so before anyone brings up veneers. This is your family dentist handing you a plan, not a studio trying to sell you a whole new mouth.

We offer teeth whitening and dental veneers, planned around your face and your budget. Every option comes with a straight answer about what it will and won't change.

04

Orthodontics in Epsom

Maybe it's crowding. Maybe a bite that's slowly drifting, or a teenager who's stopped smiling with their teeth. Straightening is a real investment, and the tricky part is usually deciding who to trust with it.

We've done this for Epsom teenagers and for plenty of adults who decided it was finally their turn. Because everything's in one place, your braces or aligners run alongside your normal check-ups, same team, same records. You won't get sent across town to start over with a stranger.

We do early treatment for younger kids, and braces, clear aligners and retainers for everyone else. Already partway through somewhere else and having doubts? The second opinion is free, and so is the virtual consult: send a few photos through and we'll take a look without you booking a thing.

Dental Clinic Services in Epsom

Some of what we treat doesn't look dental at first. A jaw that clicks, headaches that turn up like clockwork, snoring that's sent your partner to the spare room. It often traces back to the mouth, and it can usually be sorted.

Clenching and grinding are everywhere among the busy Epsom and Newmarket crowd, and hardly anyone links it to their headaches. Since we're looking at your teeth regularly anyway, we tend to spot the wear before you've said a word.

We handle TMJ and jaw trouble, injectables, and help with snoring and sleep apnoea. If it needs someone more specialised than us, we'll say so and point you to the right person.

Children's Dentist in Epsom

Some kids bounce straight in. Most don't. If getting yours into the chair feels like a hostage negotiation, you're in good company, and it's pretty much why we set the place up the way we did.

A lot of our families come from schools like Epsom Normal Primary, and plenty of the parents were sitting in this chair themselves twenty years ago. We look after whole families, kids through to grandparents, so yours grows up around people they actually know.

First visits are slow and low-key. We let them hold the mirror, count their teeth, have a bit of a laugh, and save the real dentistry for once they've settled. The point isn't only today's check-up. It's a grown-up who doesn't dread this place.

Teeth Whitening in Epsom

Coffee, red wine, and twenty-odd years of both. That's usually all it takes for teeth to go dull. Whitening is the quickest and cheapest way to freshen a smile back up.

The supermarket kits and mall whitening stalls can be rough on enamel and hit-and-miss on results. Done here, it's matched to your own teeth and checked against your history first, so any fillings, crowns or sensitive spots get accounted for before we start.

We do professional whitening with take-home trays, and we'll tell you upfront what shade change is actually realistic. If it isn't going to get you where you want, you'll hear that before you've spent a cent.

Dental Hygienist in Epsom

Gums tend to grumble first. A bit of blood when you brush, maybe that furry feeling by mid-afternoon. Caught early, it's one of the easiest things to turn around.

Gum disease, not decay, is what costs most adults their teeth, and it builds up quietly for years before it ever hurts. Our hygiene visits are a thorough, proper clean rather than a quick buff and polish. Your hygienist works from the same notes as your dentist, so nothing slips through between visits.

A proper scale and clean, a gum health check, and some honest coaching on the unglamorous habits that actually keep your gums healthy.
