In-House Teeth Whitening

In-House Teeth Whitening in Epsom, AK

teethA white smile is the best smile, and stained teeth can get in the way. Smoking, drinking caffeinated or carbonated beverages, and taking certain medications can all contribute to yellowing or browning teeth. If you would like to fix this aesthetic problem and get whiter teeth, Alpers Dental Clinic can give you teeth whitening treatment. Your smile will improve, your confidence will increase, and you will be a happier individual.

Teeth Whitening Options

We offer several options for teeth whitening, including the following:

  1. Over-the-Counter Products. These products are available in most drugstores and can be used at home.
  2. Tray Whitening. A plastic tray similar to a mouthguard is moulded using the impression of the patient’s teeth. At home, a bleaching gel is applied onto the tray, which is then worn over the teeth, allowing the bleach to do its magic.
  3. Individual Tooth Bleaching. For root canal-treated teeth, we recommend individual bleaching, which is done in the clinic by one of our dentists.
  4. Forever White. This teeth whitening pen can be used for minor discolouration or as aftercare for in-house whitening.
  5. In-House Teeth Whitening. This is a clinical procedure, which is non-invasive, and provides the fastest and best results.

In-House Teeth Whitening Treatment

The in-house teeth whitening treatment is a quick way to whiten the teeth up to five shades lighter. It can be done on patients 16 years or older. The procedure is done inside the clinic and takes around 90 minutes, giving a quick, and long-lasting solution to teeth discolouration. In a single visit, you can get the beautiful, pearly white smile you’ve always wanted.

Teeth Whitening Procedure

During the in-house teeth whitening treatment, once you’re comfortable in the dental chair, a sterile cover will be used to cover your gums and mouth, while your teeth are clearly exposed. We will apply a bleaching agent on the surface of the teeth and use a special light to speed up the whitening process. After multiple applications, the teeth will appear much lighter and brighter. This procedure is painless, and requires no anesthesia. After the treatment, you may resume normal activities.

Reminders Before and After Teeth Whitening

  • Before Treatment
      1. Pregnant and breastfeeding women are advised not to undergo or use any teeth whitening products.
      2. Patients who have photosensitivity, or are undergoing chemotherapy or radiation cannot have in-house teeth whitening.
      3. Patients who are taking any medications need to consult their doctor first to learn how to manage them before, during and following treatment.
      4. All patients need to have a general dental exam to determine if they’re a candidate for teeth whitening.
  • After Treatment
    1. Patients are advised to continue using some form of teeth whitening product at home to maintain the effects of the procedure. We recommend tray whitening for best results.
    2. Avoid eating or drinking acidic foods as well as products that can stain your teeth again, such as tobacco and coffee.
    3. Some dental restorations, such as crowns or fillings, may need to be replaced because they are not affected by whitening treatment and their colour may appear darker afterwards.
