Listening is not hearing.
Hearing is not understanding.
Understanding is not believing.
Believing is not doing.

THE WHAT NOT TO EAT LIST:

Here's a list of things to eat and to avoid eating during the time you have braces on your teeth. Remember that if the brackets don't break off, then treatment will be quicker and you will get the braces off sooner

Concentrate on really soft food for the first 2 days while the cement hardens properly!!

ALLOWED:
  • Cooked food including meat
  • Cereals [but exclude those with nuts or hard bits like muesli]
  • Ice cream [not ice blocks]
  • Fruit like strawberries, kiwi fruit, bananas
  • Thin slices of cheese

ALLOWED SOMETIMES:
  • Soft chocolate [like chocolate fish or marshmallow Easter eggs] or lollies like jelly beans

NOT ALLOWED:
  • Chewing gum
  • Hard or sticky food or lollies [This includes:
Toffee, K bars, Crunchie bars, Muesli bars, minties, chocolate slabs (like Cadbury or Whittaker blocks), chupa-chups, any food containing nuts, popcorn, gingernuts, chocolate chips]
  • Carrots – grate them first
  • Apples and pears – cut them up first
  • Corn on the cob
  • Remove stones from fruit [for example, peaches, apricots, plums] before biting into them

BEWARE:

Soft drinks like Coke and Fanta are not very good while braces are on – but they are MUCH LESS DAMAGING than the ‘energy drinks’! Avoid drinks like Powerade and Red Bull and V because they are absolutely full of sugar which will cause your teeth to decay really quickly
